Hi all,

I've been working on my tow bar over the last few weekends, new bolts, sanded, painted etc, however after fitting a new bracket to mount the electrics to, I noticed the plug itself is in bad condition, the old bracket is snapped and rusted to the back of it etc.

Decided to buy a new plug and just rewire it. Is this a case of simply cutting the old plug off and wiring up a new one, or will the battery need disconnecting?

Thanks for the help,

shouldn't need to disconnect the battery.but if you are unsure,do so.as(make sure you have radio code:D) long as you don't have ignition on you should be fine. cut the old plug off, strip wires back and re-assemble,also,make sure you have enough spare cable to do it.

If it's the 12N type (trailer lights) then nothing should be live with lights / ignition off. If it's a grey (12S) or 13 pin then one of the cables is normally a permanent live so needs battery disconnect.
