I shall be having a test tow tomorrow with my own range rovers first before i travel all the way to collect this broken one
I did test the fuse 11 fitment today on one of them and the push test and it all seemed ok
will be coupling up the A frame to them tomorrow for a test tow

nope the auto box is completely separate to the tranfer box, the park position on the auto box engages the pawl to lock the main box, putting the transfer lever in neutral will disengage the transfer box from main 'box meaning while the props can spin freely the autobox will be locked

Dude i dont think your on the same page.....

Are you taking about a RR?

Theres only one lever on mine and it operates both the hi and low gears set out in a figure of four.

Cheers for the info prius! Iv never thought about what to do if i needed towing ;)

might go down to collect it in my prius drag it up the road a few yards and phone the AA
do you think they might suspect something when they find the range rover heads in the boot lol
I am planning to tow it with one of my other range rovers but the only one I have on gas has no two bar,so it will have to be a 4.6 petrol one to tow it back with
I'm beginning to think that the 160 mile round trip will cost me more in fuel than sending in a private recovery truck to collect it

Got a mate to tow me 1/4 mile up the road to could call Rac OUT for a free tow to me mate who would set thetiming up, RAC manwas adiment he could get it going but i knew otherwise ha!

sorry i was on about 99% of proper landrover transfer boxes this won't apply if you have one of those p38 things (spit)

on a proper landy you have in the forward left position LO diff, forward right LO, rear left HI diff, rear right HI, in the middle position of the right hand side (halfway between HI and LO is a neutral position (or has been on every defender, RRC (apart from the viscous centre diff ones) and discovery i have ever driven and i have driven a few!

RR have electronic high low its still a seperate box but you use a fuse to operate it! Do you not own a defender? Exactly the same with a lazy arse very unreliable switch/solonoid arrangement instead of a good old manual leaver.

Do you even have a Range Rover? If not stop sticking your nose in!

Did you read post 23 or should people only comment if they own that particular vehicle? In which case the post count in the RR section will drop drastically seeing as most of the 'tractor boys' have a damn good understanding of most land rovers...and are willing to offer said knowledge.

I refuse to eat dog by the way.

Eye, was a bit confusing to start with lol.

Got the gist now cheers dude :D

fook me i'd rarther an old tratter any day over a P38 at least i know mines gonna start get me to my destination and home without a slipped liner, pourous block HG failure alarm issues the list is endless! I suppose you could argue its far more comfortable ride than my tratter in the AA mans cab that is.

I have a feeling that being automatic you can only tow it 30 miles at 30 miles a hour even with the fuse in. I aint gonna walk over to my truck to check my bible at this time of night though. When are you looking at doing it?
