Need to get a tow bar for my D2, some are advertised as TD5, some as 2/300 and some as fitting both. So who is right are they the same or not.

Yu need to check whether you need a EC Type Approved Towbar. If not you can fit owt yu like. It depends on the age of ya motor whether yu will or not.

You need a tow bar with Type Approval on cars registered after after 1 August 1998.
Disco 1 300 series towbars STC8816 98 on
Disco 2 towbars STC50287AB
They are different.
