Took the plunge

Soo for the past few years I've fancied a defender but never had the money to buy one. Me and my dad bought a kitted out discovery 2 years ago and it's served me well but the opertunity has arose to buy a 90. It's a 2.5td in standard guise soo what's recommendations for mods as its goin to be a pure off road toy. I've got 2k to spend on mods but main one I was thinking was a galv chassis to extend its life.

200 tdi .cam belt and crank bearings

How is the 200tdi conversion. Fairly handy with the spanners now I've had a disco for 2 years

straight forward if defender spec ,still easy if disco but you need exhaust down pipe kit from ebay and some work with turbo pipes etc is your chassis poor as i like galv but the price would buy a few toys

I've not had a proper poke about yet to see as But already had a galv chassis in mind, I know it Definitely needs an outrigger. Seen a 200tdi lump on eBay for £875 which seems excessive.

Just a bit excessive, I have seen 200tdi discos going complete for less!! Should be able to get a lump for about £400

Me personally I would do:

300TDi axles and brakes
200TDi engine conversion
Lift kit +2"
Trailing arms
Wide angle props
Heavy duty bumper
Wheels and tyres

I would expect that to cost £2K, its the main expensive stuff and you can keep adding the extras like winches afterwards....

Or just buy mine for £4500 and its all ready for off roading with top spec stuff and is a genuine 200TDi
