Can anyone give me some info on throttle potentiometer. I have had a diagnostic check and it says the throttle potentiometer is faulty. Is it difficult to fix? Is it expensive to buy?

thanks

You will find it above throttle pedal on the L Series powered vehicles, I think K Series is the same but I am not sure about TD4.
Make sure you check connector and circuit also.

PART No SLD 100061 PRICE ABOUT £225 I'm afraid to say,so make sure it is faulty, a 2nd opinion from a Dealer might be a good idea.

Reset the potentiometer first before replacing:

Turn ignition to position II, so dash lights are on.

Press accelerator fully 5 times to the floor, switch off ignition again, job done.

Hope that sorts you out, keep us updated

Hi,

The above is to reset the potentiometer of the gaspedal, are there any other combinations available to do resets for the FL (the Td4 in particular)??

I honestly dont know Willo.....:)

Those tricks of the trade are well kept secret, I only know of that particular reset procedure for the 1.8 k-series.

Does Roveron know of any for the Td4???

Perhaps the BMW forums might shed some light on the Td4
or you could try here:

MG ZT / Rover 75 - MG-Rover.org Forums

The Td4 is in the Rover 75 as well

what symptoms do you get with the faulty potentiometer?

a trip to maplins or RS components, normally does the trick unless LR have tarted it up to make it special they're all made in bloody china anyway

I had a sudden loss of power at 60mph. Twice in about 10 minutes. When you need more petrol through it doesn't deliver. Had the potentiometer replaced today. £70 for a genuine land rover one. Taking it for a long run Sunday so hopefully everything will be ok now.
