Thinking of throwing in the towel

depends on condition of engine ,liners etc ,and whether head has been too hot before ,head starts off as stressed flat lump ,heating alters the ali

If you did it on a fresh K series then yes I think that makes sense. But I really dont think it's the head, remember that the EWP is entirely independent of the engine. We operated the EWP without the engine running and it filled the tank right up exactly like when it's being driven. The only difference is heat and pressure - which seems to be enough to push coolant out of the tank when operating in motorway conditions.

No that would be utterly rediculous, we used top quality bits and we did a good job. This has to be something to do with distribution of pressure and flow. Surely?
go and work in a machine shop for a bit ,obviously nothing is guarrenteed but heads first thing i would have looked at after overheat problem no 2

I have worked in a machine shop, great fun actually would love to get back into it :D. You're right, nothing is guarenteed - I can see why you suspect the head, but this isn't the same overheating problem that I had before - this is different. Before when there were exhaust gasses causing airlocks they were nearly constant, this time it has only happened when I've topped up the coolant I have somehow lost. But if there is a way we can eleiminate the head from suspision I'd be interested to hear it - as long as I don't have to take the fecking thing apart again.

Need to check for exhaust gas in coolant to rule it out but I suspect it's not the cause!

Yep I think we need to do a bit of Sherlock Holmes on this - eliminate the impossible.

As long as I don't have to spend hundreds more on this I'm ok with it, but it really is starting to be a thorn in my balls.

There's some sites dedicated to that kinda thing???

what a sanctamonious load of twaddle, James. You seem to think that you are the only person who is capable of doing anything properly .
no i dont but i do have quite some experience with engines both machining and building, just giving some options, your just deaf to anything that doesnt suit you
