thinking of buying facelift 2002+ whats best diesel or petrol... also LPG..

hi.. i havent ever had a range rover before. am thinking spending aroun 11k on one... so it will be an average miles 2002 model facelift...

the main reason thats put me off before we start is cost of running...

if i was to get the 4.4 v8 it would have to be lpg converted without a doubt..

other option is to buy a diesel TD6 but they only do about 25mpg which is still not great and i bet thats if you drive it really sensibly. plus the perforance is silly. an sound crap...

i just dont no which way to go..

any advice...
also if anyone has lpg v8 do they do same to gallon but its just half price fuel... because i got told it slightly less to gallon on LPG..

also if you can give me some figures of how much your getting to gallon when driving slow, or quicker on lpg/petrol/diesel most appreciate it as ive got to take all into account but most importantly ho much approx its gonna cost me per week in fuel...

your wanting to buy a RR but already dont fancy the running costs?? believe me the fuel costs will be nothing compared to the bigger bills/depreciation youve got coming.....

hi if you thinking of petrol you looking at 12 ti 14 if you drive like a old man but all ways smilling thats why we have them if you want loads of miles to the gallon get a ka

i would plump for lpg v8, the lpg gets around 15% less to the gallon but its 50% cheaper so its roughly 30% cheaper

they can be unreliable but then so can any car. get a good un and you'll be fine, with 11k to play with i'm sure you can be a happy owner, especially if you dont mind getting your hands dirty as repairs can be expensive.

i would also buy the diagnostic kit, just deduct it from your budget. you will save a bit on dealer visits and if you know what your doing the kit can pay for itself over time!

12 too 14 is a joke...

i have a 4.0 jeep grand cherokee that does about 17 drivin it slow...
an am sick of it... it was always a top up between a range rover or a bmw 535d m sport..
think im gonna go with the bmw...
there are far to many downsides to these land rovers. plus. THEY are ONLY A ROVER so that says it all,

Doesn't sound like a RR is for you then, if its all such a joke.....
The costs of running any RR are pretty high and they are NOT renowned for fuel economy - how could anyone expect "economy" running a V8?
Fiestas and Micras are much more economical to run but I guess most people here aren't that interested in owning one........

i drive a 4.0 jeep... an that on books does 17mpg which is actually less than a 4.4 v8 rr. but someone said should only get 12mpg round town.. i get 17 in me jeep..

no i just think its a joke when the likes of the diesel cant even give more than 25mpg when an x5 or an ml270 gives 33 ish.
supposidly same engine as x5 also minus few horses..

I cant help having a little chuckle when people that cant count compare them with other "cant count rubbish" -esp Jeep junk. I warm to the feeling of relieving them of servicing costs that they claim they cant afford at main dealers......

I have had both Jeep Grand Cherokees and Range Rovers. The Cherry was a 4.0 litre straight 6 fitted with a multipoint injection system for the LPG and it did around 20 mpg, equal to 40 mpg in monetary terms as gas is half the price of petrol hereabouts. My current 4.6 HSE Range Rover (1996 P38) is returning around 16 to 17 mpg, or equivalent of 34 mpg in monetary terms.
