Disco 1 Think I've cocked up the Transfer box :-(

Shoot me now think I've done sommat wrong somewhere??? Just before sealing it up & putting it back in I thought 'I'll give it just that one more once over'

Everything seemed fine, was very smooth going from low to high, diff lock on, diff lock off..... Then I just happened to turn the flanges in the opposite direction and it felt really notchy and a little stiff to turn against each other What have I done wrong??? I'm sure I set all the preloads as per the rebuild manual and used the correct shims etc. for the centre diff. I've checked & treble checked and cannot work out why its so notchy????

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

its supposed to feel notchy if set up well but turn without much difficulty

Then it could be ok as it is then? I just don't remember it being as 'notchy' as that when I removed it. Ah well, live & learn. Must admit it frightened me a little, I've read the print off the manual keep thinking I did something wrong. I'll put the cover on then now & .......gulp! summon the muscle to put it in Fingers crossed it will work.

once the diff gears have free play removed they do feel notchy they dont once the thrust washers etc wear
