hi all! Would love help with following, how do I change thermostat on 1998 2.0di l series freelander. Blowing Luke warm air and takes forever to warm up. Cheers all!

Help with what? Fitting a thermostat is as easy as removing the old, and swapping it for a new one. Then fill the coolant and bleed out any air trapped in the system.

Sorry mate weren't being funny but everyone says there a nightmare to do? Don't even know where it is? Heard you've to remove engine bracket ( which one ) jack up engine? Don't know, car great runner but winter round corner need it fixed and WARM!!!!

that's often aimed at the td4/m47r diesel ..
the job being a p.i.t.a. on that engine ..

i don't recall any thermostat hassle posts re. the L-series on these pages
L-series engine issues seem to be a tad rare ..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
as for where the thermostat is on the "L" series .. the info must be somewhere online ..
( try a forum search ? )
I've never replaced it on mine, but it doesn't look very complicated or difficult at all. Attached is the page from the LR Rave Workshop Manual. The manual is really helpful, there's info on downloading it here...
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rave-disk-maintenance-manual.260227/
Basically...
1) Drain coolant.
2) Remove 4 bolts securing thermostat housing to engine oil cooler housing.
3) Remove thermostat housing.
4) Remove ’O’ ring from engine oil cooler housing and discard.
5) Remove thermostat from housing.
I'm sorry the forum has let you down by suggesting there are other reasons for the problem you have, that you are going by information for the wrong engine and that a search of threads will help you find where the thermostat is on yours.
Pretty bad response really :rolleyes:
Hopefully the the forum can give you such bad responses in future, and you can also help providing bad responses :D
