Dear all- as previously moaned about, my 95 vlassic has wet fromt footwells- the drivers side more so than the nearside. I have discovered now that the seatbelt on the drivers side is slightly damp after rain- especially so at the furthest extent of the belt. I think the leak is coming from somewhere down the pillar between the back and front doors but I'm buggered if I can find it- any ideas? The footwells are only really wet near the bit where the carpet joins the sill, so I'm hoping a wee squirt of sealer somewhere might do the job. Any suggestions about a likely ingress point would be very welcome and if anyone could tell me where the sun roof drains are that would be good too.. Ta very much!!!:)

the seals look OK to be fair, but there seems to be a 'gap' between the pillar and the door frame... very strange, certainly, its only wet near the sill and at the edges so I'm sure its coming in there- I suppose it only needs a tiny gap?

water always runs down hill mate so it could come from anywhere. if there is a gap btwn top of door frame and body of car(where window goes) i'll put money on a theft/locked out incident in the past and you just need to flex the door back into place!

I think you may be right- the central lockings buggered on the drivers side I have to lock it from the passenger side- the door frame looks Ok but I guess it may be out by a mm or two....is 'flexing' an easy thing to do or will I make it worse- unfortunately i'm a bit cack handed and 6'4" and 20 stone....

dont put all yer weight behind it then!!!

wind window down all the way and just pull it a little against you knee! ive done it many times and i'm 5'11 and 13 stone wet through!!

and yer only teasing it back to shape not pulling trees up!!! ffs be careful!!!

ever wondered what its like opening a can of worms fellas!!!

aye thats what I meant- just wrote it back to front.....hopefully that might be it I dont think its coming in anywhere else and I think its a recent leak as I pulled up the carpets and the footwells arent rusty at all just wet. if its not the door frame I'm stumped.

Off to have a go when the rain goes off!!

OK i've had a look at the door frame and its fitting nicely against the rubber seal i dont think its bent- could the water be coming down from the windscreen against the bulkhead i had a new windae screen in her a few weeks ago and the fitter said the original windae hadnt been sealed right and that might be the cause of the wet carperts...this is becoming a cnut of a job!!

Also is it a good idea to remove the carpet and rubber thing and just use a rubber mat till this mullarkey is solved. Am getting exasperated now....

if you have a dehumidifier and a garage, sit the dehumidifier in the car in the garage, it will dry it out quickly. then see if it happens again!

sadly neither just a field ootside my house. Think will cut out carpet and dry it out inside then get Mrs Fatrover with a hosepipe to washer it for a bit and i'll try and see where its coming in.

Either that or the bastards getting the angle grinder and I'm going to use the ser 1 everyday.!

well its been ****ing down here all night and the floor is soaked- think must be coming from the windscreen or the sunroof..... am commencing investigations tomorrow in earnest....x x
