Just received a reply from Southdown regarding their range of P38 parts, steering/axle guards etc. which it appears they have withdrawn from production..... just at the point that people like us are buying P38's and looking to prep them properly:mad::mad:

if you can weld or know a freind who can then i would say build the gear yourself, you get exactly what you want and normally better quality.some aftermarket stuff is just cack!

i know what you mean! i was looking for some brackets and fittings for my landrover gun cabinet which sits in the boot and a few places were saying they dont stock it anymore, then i thought id try my luck at a main dealer, they want to charge me £50 as they only think the l322 brackets will work, but wont garantee this!!

Tried rimmer bros and they have them for £30, still thinking of making my own up!!!!!

Business is business. My kind of customers do not want to spend time on bulletin boards learning how to deal with their truck

Fair Play to yer ..if you can get a "Customer" to pay 129 Euro's fer a cable that freely available WORLDWIDE fer no more than 8 Euros ...

I take my hat off to yer sir .................

From the UK side (& with MY business head on) ..... I'll make em up & sell em on to yer fer 25 Euros a piece (Discounts are available fer BULK orders) ...

WHATEVER your buyin em in for (& we'll want sight of invoices) Me,Tony & J the Range will beat it ..and STILL make a good livin out of it!!!

And if "they don't want to spend time on BULLITEN BOARDS" how will they know they NEED yer "expertise" in the first place ??? coz if they took it into LR , LR would have fixed it for em Wouldn't they ?????

P.S. a "TRUCK" is something that carries "Goods" here in the UK ....A Rangie is a "CAR" ................

8 euros is the price of an incomplete cable. Like you i've dozens, then i found some UK guys that do the bad work for me ;)

In order not to appear like a crook, let me add that my customer standard do not speak/read english because he's 40-50 years old and is not very computer capable.
In that price ofr 129 euros, there's a good part of online support to help them dealing with that freeware.
Another part is knowledge about air suspension. As an example, if you get height sensor incorrect, it's not because your height sensor is dead.

I can't reveal you how they find my shop but google works fine.

PS : Sorry for "truck", too much time on US bulletin boards

Firstly ... "TRUCK" Ok your forgiven ....

I admire your honestly ....what your really sayin is ...... YOUR "Computer literate" & your customer are not ....

Poor old Storey & Colin from BBS spent MEGA amounts of their money Developing softwear solutions for the P38 & coz they are (relativly) free..... you USE the knowledge that they have "net published" to make a business.....................

Well GOOD GRIEF ... I'm putting my house up fer sale this afto & moving to France to start up on me own !!!!!

Coz the "Knowledge" me Tony & J have would make us MILLIONAIRES in 6 months!!!

****e .............. Why didn't we think of this earlier guys?????

Ok I'll count you out then ....Seriously though J ... If I read this right this Gentleman is SELLING Storey Wilsons EAS Softwear fer 50 Euros !!!!!

Cant be right that ...can it ????????????? he should at the VERY least be givin poor old Storey SOMETHING!!!!
this is a rip off now you see why i dont want to go back..

I think you read too quickly. The freeware is given FREE by Storey Wilson when you purchase a cable.

Be sure that i didn't wait for your advices to support Storey's work and Rangerovers.net in the past.:welcome2:

Another thing, reading bulletin boards cannot replace experience based on many EAS renovations and upgrade projects.

This business is not for living because Tax and Consumer Law kills us here.
I started this to pay for my Law School.

PS : i see no rip off since i don't force people paying that price. I'm always happy to offer a french translation of Storey's manuals to anyone that was smart enough to search a low cost solution

Back to the thread.

What do you think of those underbody protection?

Say thank you to all those french customers that permits me to start a production when even UK firms do not want to propose that kind of product for such a problematic vehicle.

If I'm reading this right... free software being sold as a main item; errr... doesn't copyright not come in to this at some point?

If free software (public domain) is being sold for profit as a main item and not just as an added value item, then that's just bear faced cheek in my honest opinion.

If your going to do that... we'd all be stuck because people that help the community (and idiots like me to learn about our vehicles) would be lost as people that do things for free would stop doing it as its being taken the **** out of by opportunists.

I admit that I use this forum to get myself out of problems with my vehicle because of ignorance - but I am learning slowly..... I value the people that offer help and hope one day that I can pass some knowledge onto someone who needs it without charge.

You're right, a free software can't be sold as a main item. It's illegal

My main item is a cable. Software is GIVEN

If you want to look after me, you'll find that it's a pleasure for me to help rangerovers enthusiasts from various bulletin boards all over world (from USA to Australia)

BUT that i may also do business with individuals that do own a range rover like they would own any other car and with professionnals that makes profit too on my parts and knowledge.

PS : would you sell a cable at it's real price if you know that you'll spend 2 hours on phone with someone that do not know what is a COM port?
