So, picked the car back up from the dealers on sat, its done over 300 miles now and no coolent loss???, the only variable was that the fault had been cleared on the thermostat, so can only presume this was causing the loss!!
whilst driving home on motorway, adjusted the steering colum back towards me, heard a snap/clunk/thud, as if something had dropped down inside the dash, strange I thought, moved colum again and all seemed fine, got in it today, and the in/out movement on the colum has stopped working, although you can hear a motor whirring, on searching, this seems to be another great design, lol, I haven't looked yet but im presuming the plastic clip that holds the in/out motor in situ has broken, looks like I will have to find some zip ties hayho, wheres my tools
cheers hammie

Ok........

Just a wee tip, write in your original post ( 4 weeks into etc etc) then we can see whole history of your woes, no need to to make new post as old one bumps up for all to see...:monitor_punch:

sorry, ok to that,
lo and behold, just found a piece of white plastic fall out into the footwell and a electric motor dangling off the colum, holding it back in place and the in/out action works, now lets see if we have the access to zipp it up
cheers hammie

yep, found the fixit guide, and although awkward I have managed to apply the mk1 3 zip tie bodge and all is good, the main problem I had apart from the obvious access, was holding the motor in place whilst trying to thread the zip ties round it, I used some number plate mounting tape to hold it in place so both hands were free, all back together and working now, whilst feeling productive, I have also remounted my oil filter housing, using some home made rubber mounts, as the originals had snapped and it was being held in situ with zip ties, finally fixed the drivers seat side trim, which would pop out of place on a regular basis, because the rear part where its held to the seat is broken, one penny washer later and it is back in place and will do for the time being, will replace with new at a later date, as its got a split in it and the paint is worn in places, but @ £119 for a bit of plastic it will have to wait for now
cheers hammie:)

So the next quirk appears today, we have the on going is it/ isn't it losing water, the inop steering wheel adjustment, [which is now fixed, care of 3 zip ties] had a sticky/inop drivers window, which I think is a worn switch, so today, took it out as I had a dentist appointment, got home, parked up, went inside, came out a few hours later, to find some water under the vehicle, it hadn't been losing any for about 350 miles now, and now there is this tiny patch under the vehicle, [dry roads dry day] seemed to be a small amount in the undertray too, right I thought, maybe we can get to the bottom of this leak, will do the school run, and when I get home will take undertray off and hopfully trace the leak, got home, left it running, got underneath, bloody bone dry!!!!!!, so still none the wiser at the mo, went to go out just now, [dark] put the lights on, no front nearside dipped light, with warning on dash, ffs, popped down the road, switched off, got back in lights on, still the same, got home, switched lights off, and back on again, light is now back on and working??????????, so not sure whats going on there, obviously not a fuse or bulb, any suggestions:mad:
cheers hammie

drove it in the dark for the first time really, noticed, the illuminated int door handles and door pockets, also the little lights on the end of the mirrors, lol, more to go wrong I suppose, but a nice touch

Lights is probably a loose or corrded connector on the back of the light unit - I get that at odd times...

As for the Coolant leak - it could be evapourating before you can see it...my bet is a split rad near the bottom...

I had a mystery leak - turned out to be split behind the Gearbox cooler so couldn't be seen...

Changed Rad and no issues (till the Water pump went south :) )
