Hello everyone, i would like to ask one of the hardest questions facing us range owners i would really like a winch for my rangie, i don't regularly attend competitions probably one or two a year so i wont be using it for tarzan impressions every weekend how ever i would like a reliable 8-10,000 pounder that will pull me out of the mud/water/snow/lava if ever i should need it(more often than i'd like) i have about 850 to spend on the setup i'm going to have a go at making my own bumper but i'm quite frankly bamboozled by the shear numbers of the things on the internet. Your advice please! Yours in fellowship:D

What Year Classic??

Concerning fabrication of your own winch mount and bumper....I don't mean to be rude...but are you a welder/fabricator by trade...as the amount of stress and strain the thing will be put under will be considerable, and will need to be designed and fabricated careful and well...just my two pence worth...but I wouldn't want to see a winch bumper fail under load as they weigh a bit and could be nasty to anyone silly enough to stand to close during winching!

thanks all, i am not a fabricator by trade but my brother assembled oil rigs for a time and can throw a welder around as well as any so pending a satisfactory inspection i think it will be ok.

Cool Beans....Just didn't wanna see you/anyone get a piece of steel in the face is all...

Good luck with it....keen to see photos when you get it done too!
