Hello.
I need some help about all the lights from behind the car. Freelander 1, 2001.
I literally don't have anyone else to ask, none around here with the same car, and the internet isn't really helping, I've been watching commercials and review clips in hopes of them ever braking :D

For example, when braking, only the light on top of the spare tire lights up? And none other get stronger or something like that?

What I've got: when the headlights are on, the lower lights on the back (next to the turn signals) are illuminated, and if I turn on the fog-lights, the red lights next to the white reverse lights turn on. Now, if I brake, my light on the top doesn't come on, but nothing else changes as well. So I wanted to know, if any other lights should come up (or get stronger) as well as the one in the middle, that would mean there's something up with my brake sensor, of if only the middle on should turn on, that would mean I just need to replace the bulb. Hopefully.

If what I'm asking is not well understood, I'll try to make it simpler.

Thank you.

Tail lights and brake lights are next to indicators at the bottom.
The tail lights should get brighter or 'stronger' when the brake is applied. The high level should also light when braking.

If no brake lights work check fuses, brake switch and bulbs. If you have a volt meter check the supply to the bulbs.

So lights at the bottom get stronger and the higher one on the spare wheel lights up. Well I guess since nothing of that happens I gotta go search a bit on my car... The lower lights next to the indicators are lit constantly tho

Alright. Turned out the light bulbs were at fault.
The thing is that they were all at such specific faults that it looked like they were working. The top one blew out completely. Lower right one - the contact for the stronger filament was not good so I cleaned it and that one works great (lights normally and goes stronger when the brake is pressed). Lower left one, the stronger filament blew out but the normal one was good.

All in all, light bulb need replacing. Thank you for helping me.

Great! Thanks for coming back and letting others know as it will help them.

Please can you edit the title of this to say 'SOLVED' to show you have the answer?

Thanks
