The further adventures of the 3 amigos, their buddies and 99 Disco TD5 with a bunch of k’s on it (375,000 Km’s on the clock to be exact). It started out as a normal drive to work (1 hour drive). The amigos come on (insert dramatic music and driver cussing). I think I have to do the wire mod to shuttle valves switch. Read codes long term shuttle valve switch circuit failure. Take switches out to do mod. Check switches before doing mod, one of the switches does not make a click sound when pushing it. Confirmed with multimeter the one of the switches is not functional. Buy switch repair kit (new switches) install. Clear codes fixed:D (insert triumphant music). On the way home the same day I go to pass truck (lorry) on two lane road no power (insert dramatic music and driver cussing) between 2000 – 3000 rpm. Stop along road unplug MAF (truck passes me while stopped, think driver was laughing) drive again no change. Plug MAF back in unplug AAT no change. Take engine cover off unplug IAT Sensor (learned to keep tools in Disco the hard way) no change limp Disco home. Read codes IAT sensor Temp to high, IAT sensor short to ground etc. needless to say IAT sensor bad. But I first thought if IAT sensor goes bad the almighty computer under the hood would go to default when the sensor is unplugged. But this is not the case IAT sensor bad or no reading it uses the last know temp in its memory (tell me if I am wrong here) which the last temp it was receiving from sensor was too high therefore limp in mode. Now I am waiting on sensor:( (insert depressing music). Thinking may try to fix my shifter base plate so shifting is not like stirring soup. (Trying to think where my drill and rivet gun are). My wife says the thing that takes the most of my time lately is fixing my Landrover. I think she is right (did I really just say she is right).
