my next discovery will be a discovery 2 cos I like em old and cheap.. and that one will have to last me forever cos I don't like the 3 and hate the 4..

mind you this one's alright so far if I keep up with the work on it..

Too big, too heavy. All the electronic traction gadgets in the world won't make up for the sheer bulk of the thing. Downsize (well I never - look at the next Rangie and Disco 5 on the drawing board - they're smaller and lighter).

I sat in the Discovery 4 (the first one in Australia I'm told) on the weekend. It is a thing of beauty, and like others have said, very much like the Range Rover (they had one sitting next to it).

But....

I can't see myself paying that kind of money for a perfectly capable 4WD that I know I would never be able to take off road (lest I damage it). Such a waste!

it looks nice for a posers runaround or a rich tarts school run but as said is too expensive to take off road, i wouldn't turn it down if ya gave me one for free but it will be outta my price range till its ten years old .
And why do landrover insist on having stupidly designed split tailgates now , whats wrong with a nice swing out opening tailgate like the one on my D1 , i imagine it would about break my back loading it up with that stupid half tailgate digging in me knees while i'm trying to bend over and shove heavy **** into the boot .
bring back the D1 rear door !

think the answer on the door thing is cos they aint considered safe anymore.. they swing open into other cars, stick out where people can drive into them and close on you if you park on a slope.. also remember these cars are now driven by yummy mummy's who haven't the strength to open a full size door cos they haven't eaten more than a dry cracker since their kids were born without depositing it down the loo 5 minutes later... so if you're going to split the door this is the way it's done in Chelsea these days..

personally I think the door should have been left alone and the clientelle changed but how many off roaders / home mechs etc have 35k to throw around on a toy.. market wouldn't have been big enough really would it..

But you can't open the swing open back door anyway if another vehicle is parked up close to it.
I wil pass on D3 and 4 as they don't do a petrol engine for them in the UK, I will have to go for the RRS. Thats a shame :behindsofa:

Liked the overall feeling of the interior, liked the bored out 3 litre engine, but that's about it! Do not see the point of making the thing a seven seater as standard (it was an HSE I looked at) as I need the back for the dogs. Still think the car looks like a hearse

Noted that the one I looked at still had the same illuminated vanity mirrors that are in my Disco 1. Could do better LR !!! I for one will be sticking with my TDi. Not even sure about the Disco 2.

what a crock ! range rover front transit rear and a green house for a roof and no proper chassis ! full of electronic rubbish to boot. i dont think many will be used off road even when the second hand market prices are at 2 grand in about 5 years cos they are crapola !

R.I.P land rover :(
Yer still talking Crapp after all these years aren't ye yer wee gay dwarf:D
