As you can see from the picture there is a lack of boot floor as I have been drilling millions of little foooooookin spot welds all day. Then success! The boot floor comes up and the metal work around it isn't too bad. Then I notice the fuel feed return thingy has cracked.... What is it?? Sender unit? Any how im going to paddocks tommorow for my new boot floor so while im there (if some one can tell me what the thingy is) I will pick up a new thingy. Or is it nothing to worry about cos it aint leaking?

Alreet. I have now figured out that it is the fuel sender unit and there £44.50+vat. Is mine ok how it is or is it going to suddenly **** out loads of diesel from the return side. Alough the plastic has cracked the metal pipe that goes thro the plastic seems fine. what do ya rekon??
 
How much for a fuel sender???? is that a lego one :)

If you have ANY exposed bare wires around you sender get them insulated, this can cause a spark - fire. Trust me on this one hence I no longer hae a 3.9 Rangie

Looks good Ian but mines the 300tdi and it had a square sender plug. I have already hacked the boot floor out of it and dont realy want to start doing the same to the wires :)
 
I rekon it should be fine as it is only the low pressure return pipe, but I'd prolly clean it up and bosh some silicon on it to make sure! then just keep an eye on it. Not realy worth 50 quid, and the amount of fuel that you would lose if it did begin to leak would be minimal at any rate.
 
I think it depends how easy it would be to replace it when the floor is back in. If it is gonna be very difficult, then do it know while its all apart.
 
Replace it while you've got the floor out - I didn't and a week later I regretted it.

Also, while you got the floor out, considor either dismantling & cleaning, or replacing altogether, the fuel sedimentor. Otherwise it can be a bit of a bugler to do from underneath.

I removed the rear floor after phoning Paddocks to check that they had replacements in stock which they did. Went to Pads today only to have my heart sink when I saw it come out in a britpart box (I have a previous list as long as your arm with faulty ill fitting rubbish from em thats either gone back or just been bined). They said their is no alternative to having britpart so I took it and sulked off home. Upon arriving home I have droped the panel in place and was supprised (almost beyond beleif) to find it needs no trimming and it looks to me as though all the holes line up! Ill let you know how it goes tommorow as my grinder has crapped out on me at the sight of another rusty Landy. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Also if any TDi owners out there need a new exhaust I just bought the Middle box and back box for £42 all in! Thats both sections together all the way from the down pipe back... hope that fits too:rolleyes:
 
BigLad. Is the fuel sedimentor that greeet big muddy thing on the drivers side of the chassis under the boot floor in front of the tank with pipes hanging out all over the place? Presumably by the name it catches sediment? How do you clean it?
