hi all, i joined this forum last week because i was going to view my first landy. i can now say i am the prod owner of a h reg 90 td.
i have done some research and everyone i talk to tells me get rid of the td engine and fit a 200tdi!!!!!
i have sourced a nice disco 200tdi as a donor but need some more advice as follows;
should i use the engine, transfer and gearbox from the disco or leave the gearbox thats in the 90?

please help
chris

original vechile gear box but you may want to fit disco transfer box ,changing the speedo gear out of yours and hand braket bracket fastening

thanks, how hard a job is it to do? i have found some great step by step instructions on here and else were.
i am not a mechanic but i am quite familiar with spanners and ratchets lol
i could pay some one but would love to do it myself- am i punching above my weight?

relatively straight forward ,read several sources rather than one then ask specific questions ,good luck you wont regret it once done and the beauty of doing it your self is the knowledge of your vehicle gained ,put h/d release arm for clutch before fitting new engine ,push fit pipe connectors are good and come with tails for rubber pipe if needed,search ebay for exhaust conversion kit

thanks james- much appreciated mate.
i guess ive got alot of reading to do!!!!
any idea how long it will take?- i know theres no exact answer to this but a rough guide will be very helpful

if you have a 1.4 ratio transferbox on your 90 and want to get rid of it, if you are using the one from the disco, let me know

Just a quick jump in on the conversion. I am worcestershire based but dont have facilities to do a conversion. Anyone recommend somewhere? Whats a reasonable price? Found a place in chepstow quoting £1000 for 300tdi conversion and he gets my old 2.5td engine and bits.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Might do better asking if someone wants to earn a few quid from here!

Yeah includes engine. I have a spare head for td etc. I wanted somewhere culpable if have to go back. Just getting quotes. Needs to be good as possible. I have a possibility of a landrover snowplough! That and planning an expedition round scotland with minime next year.
