I'm replacing cylinder head gasket on a 1999 T reg Discovery TD5
I've been looking at replacement timing chains and have found that there are several aftermarket ones which are half the price of original LandRover parts.
One particular one is made by Bremach are these any good?
Also is it advisable to replace the tensioner? There are signs of wear on the end of the tensioner where it pushes against the chain slide?
Any advice would be appreciated!

From experience of fitting many after market timing chains and the doing them again under warranty . I could only advise you to stay with genuine .

Bearing in mind that Land Rover don't actually make the timing chains and tensioners, why would you pay double for something that comes from the same manufacturer but in an LR box?

Buy quality yes, buy LR? Not so sure.

Who does make them so you know which ones are quality.

I honestly don't know for sure but I suspect a few minutes of Googling would soon sort that out.

Meanwhile here is a classic example of how easy it is to be confused. Bear in mind that Britpart and Bearmach are not manufacturers, like LR is not.

LHA000030 | Kit Service - Land Rover Part LHA000030

In this example Britpart is offering an LR sourced chain set, same price as a 'proper' LR sourced one whereas Bearmach have a cheaper one but no source info.
