I remember reading a thread way back when about some non LR filters having non return valves or summat in them and you could tell the difference by the noise on startup. Of course, I now couldn't find the thread if my life depended on it. Anyone know which filters are good 'uns before I take out a loan for genuine parts? Need oil, oil rotor, air and fuel.

Many thanks guys.

buy the best you can afford 1 time i would only use cooper filters but i think that unless you but the cheepest cr*p you can find then there mutch the same but genuine oil filters are only £2-3 more and the rotor filter is £5 more so £7-8 more buy genuine if it makes you happy

Oil and oil filters are 2 items you need to get right for your engine .
You can justify spending a little more on genuine parts as cheaper ones could do serious damage to your engine . And something like a missing non return valve could leave the engine short of oil on start up - when most wear occurs .

true BUT a centrifugal TD5 filter is cheaper from LR than in Coopers ;)
