TD5 misfiring

My 2000 TD5 has developed a slight misfire above 2750 revs with some black smoke. Upto that point pulls well. Recently replaced fuel pump, filter and regulator and bypassed the EGR valve so I am a bit stuck for ideas. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this ?

check for oil in injector loom

Thanks for the suggestions - will look at the wiring loom also although I replaced it about 80k miles ago when oil managed to get into the ECU.

Wiring loom clean. Disconnected the modulator but no change so I assume it is safe to conclude that the modulator has failed ?

Fixed !! Vacuum hose beteen modulator and turbo outlet hose had a crack in it. Replaced and running well, cheapest fix so far to the car. Now my next problem with the disco is .........
