TD5 Fuel guage

Hi all

i am new to the forum but have owned a 4 landrovers including 2 TD5 discovery Commercials.

I have a couple of problems at the moment one with my fuel level one miniute it shows the fuel tank is full (it is full of fuel) and then within 2 minutes of driving the guage drops down to empty and put the low fuel light on.

My question is -

Is the sender unit combined inside the main fuel pump in the tank?? and is this a common fault.

secondly the car is like jeckle and hyde when it comes to power and throttle response - when you start the car poor throttle response and low power
make the car difficult to pull away off the line without slipping the clutch.

If i restart the car it can remain the same or if i restart the car again the power and throttle response returns.

The car has had the following modifications

ECU reprogramed by Bell Auto services in York but the fault was there before i had it chipped


Dastek larger intercooler
Silicone hoses
19" RR sport alloys c/w hub adapters

i have ahd the car back to the main dealer on a number of occasions and they have found no fault with the car. It is now starting to drive me mad, can anybody shed a bit of light on the problems.

I have looked for the usual faults i oil in the injector loom but it is as dry a bone.

have you checked the wiring arround the air con pump as it can rub against the wiring and that causes the air flow meter it go the default setting and that causes intermitant accleration.
