TD5 Catalytic Converter

Hi all,
I have an early 2001, so Y reg, defender TD5. Does anyone know if it has the cat or not because I know for definite on the 51 reg defenders they did.

Have a look, it's easy to tell if it has one.
Or do you mean should it have one?

EU3 engine onwards had a cat I do believe which I "think' is 15p onwards.

No CAT as standard until the 15p engine (if yours has the updated dash it's probably a 15p)
lt's not really a CAT more a particulate filter. My 2005 sailed through the MOT every year with the pre-2002 front down pipe (no CAT)

l tried a new CAT on mine as the original didn't seem to do anything. As LR wanted £900 l went for a Britpart at £250.

It didn't line up very well with the centre silencer box flange but it eventually fitted after a bit of therapy.

lt did reduce the exhaust smell for a couple of years then stopped working so l fitted the pre-2002 down pipe.

NOTE after market down pipe droned at speed, fit the genuine LR if it's still available. l found that out to my cost and had to buy the LR one.
