Hi all, I've found the reason to my worsening clunk, the front top swivel pin/bush. It's well knackerd so it's beyond removing shims. The question is, can I remove the hub ass complete and do it in situ (removing the bush) or is it a case of a press, my lr manual doesn't explain in great detail how to do it so I'm after a bit of info. Thanks Folks.

You can do it in situ no probs as long as you remove the hub , you just punch out the bearing race and top bush , if you use the fibre top bush ( ralko is it ? brain fart and cant remember lol ) . Note what way your old one comes out ,as the shoulders are cut down so the swivel seal doesnt touch it .

yeah its pretty simple as sypher says - railko bush btw ;). Also, as mentioned above, ensure the bush is put back in the right way (the flatter side should be facing the axle).

Cheers guys, you've saved me £130! That's what I was quoted today, I diddnt ask for em to do it but that's what they said the damage would be. I had recently replaced the lower bearing but i diddnt notice any play in the top bush for some reason and I assumed that it would be an arse to get the bush out. My swivel ball has some pitting/burrs, can I sand down the roughness for a short term fix to it shaggin the new seal?

you cant sand them down as there chromed , only thing to do is replace them . If there leaking quite bad , drain em and put one shot in it untill you can afford a new swivel :)

I bet I can, ial just hammerite em!....I think that's best then, replace the bush and save a few quid then get new ones. I've just replaced the seal so at the moment it's not leaking but I expect it to start ****ing out soon enough though. Thanks for your advice, I diddnt have much of an idea and diddnt fancy throwing £130 at £20 worth of parts.

Have searched for my query and this thread is closest so...
Noticed offside wheel has slight movement on the top Pin only
Can I not just jack up under and support the Hub. remove the two bolts and replace the pin/shim/bush without taking off the Hub?

Thanks

the bush has if you look carefully 2 x flats machined into it just above where it sits in housing these should face toward center of axle when fitting bush
