Don't know where this will get me, but going to throw it out there anyway.

I am in search for a Discovery, particularly an older one that has been modified for off-road but can still be used for daily commuting.

My idea was to buy one for around 700-1000 and then sell my car to do it up myself, but this may be easier if anyone knows of anyone wanting to trade theirs for a comfy car.

Vectra is a black 55plate Design. Has a 150BHP 1.9CDTi engine. Half leather really nice inside. I think it has about 84k miles on it, cambelt and waterpump was recently changed at about 81k (have receipts to prove). I do the servicing myself, consists of oil and filters etc, pretty much every 4 months or so.

MOT due in November but spent £650 getting it through it's last one so should be sound!

Have recently colour coded my chrome front grille and chrome boot strip to make it look more like the VXR

My car is worth between 2500 - 3000 according to what's already on Autotrader so will want something worth around that.

If anyone knows of anyone wanting to get rid of their disco for a car plz let me know!

Based in Wirral area.

Thanks!

I'm just being a chancer really :) You never know, little Johnny's uncles neighbours friends childminder might have mentioned wanting to get rid of their Landy for a Vectra, probably more chance of winning the Lotto, but y'never know ;)

The best way you can value your car is look what similar cars are SELLING for on ebay. i think you are pushing 2500 for it to be honest. Vauxhalls are terrible for depreciation.

sell the vauxhall, buy a nice disco that aint been offroad proper chelsea tractor then see what it can do. It'll surpise you. then mod it as you see fit at yer own pace. I went laning on road tyres for ages, perfectly fine. Me fleet of defenders at work all have/had road tyres(theyre only getting changed cos theyre worn out).

That's what I can't understand .. if it's worth that much on Autotrader, why not sell it for that much?

I'd expect a very decent D1 for that amount, and maybe a decent TD5 if he drops on .. but frankly I wouldn't swap a Landrover for any Vectra ...

Fair enough chaps, have read bad reviews from webuyanycar, they give you a web price, and then do anything to knock you down, I even read one review saying they went round measuring the paint claiming they will need to get the car re-sprayed so want X amount off the price. Just couldnt be assed with the hassle tbh!

Think I will just wait until Nov, MOT it cus I know it will pass, and then sell it on, then you guys will see me around the forum asking how to fix my Disco! :D

we buy any car are one of the car super markets. the geezer who assesses the motor is a car sales man. Hes selling yours down, so he can sell it up through the supermarket. Have heard of people getting the price discounted for extras being on the car that arent optional.Sell yours private.

Car Super Market, I was wondering as to what they did with all the cars they buy. :)
