lol not really gonna get a pajero, although there good off road, wouldnt wanna spend all my money on fuel.

im a bit picky, i like the look of the defender but hate the interior but i understand its a work horse and not meant to be nice, hate the look of the disco and i know a lot of peeps that have killed there's with hardly any off roading being done, again prob just bad luck but there not my cup of tea. that only leaves the freelander. nice to look at, interior is bit more up to date. but u guys say there ****e lol all cars have there problems but there must be some good ones out there?

OP drive a freelander drive a disco and a defender You will like the way the freelander drives/handles best and it would be great if it didn't go wrong unfortunatly they do often. Its keeping on top of it and the cost that is the issue.

It's well known the freelander 1 was used as course trial cars by Rally Drivers and the freelander itself is used in various races and performs very well. If they are that good why not race them? oh thats right the scoob/evo/focus handles better ;)

Anyone who has seen a scoob crashed compared to a freelander crashed would sooner have a brown trouser moment in a scoob. The shell itself is nowhere near as robust as the freelander, even though the freelander is not all that heavier for the size of the car (only about 300kg difference between a stripped out FL and a WRX scoob). You're more likely to walk from a rolled freelander than you are a rolled scoob. now your comparing stripped motors to factory keep digging mate your gonna need a big ladder to get out of this hole :)

i am a strong believer that everyone has their own opinion but when you stand alone and everyone else knows/believes otherwise there is a good chance your wrong :rolleyes:

Nah, thats what i usually do while the crap is on the telly:rolleyes: She's a football nutter (Spurs fan - dont laugh) always has been. I been to a couple of matches but i'd much rather be in my wokshop or under the landy.

Your freelander must be something else, either that or the scooby you drove must have had something wrong with it.

My previous car was an old E46 BMW 318, basic spec, entry model. Yet it handled 10x better than my Freelander, especially where cornering was concerned. I've never driven a scooby, but I'm sure it would be at least on par with the 318, if not better. With that in mind, I find it difficult to believe that the scooby is near enough on par with the Freelander with regards to cornering characteristics.

That said, I wouldn't say the Freelander is bad, it's just far from being a rally car imo. Anyone who buys and expects a Freelander to handle like a rally car needs their heads testing!

When I got used to it, I adapted my driving style and have since had no problems. On the other hand though, my father has nearly rolled it over once or twice while cornering, as he hasn't got used to it. From what he said, it defo sounded like a brown trouser moment to me! But as I said, it's a 4x4, not a rally car. I don't know why we're having this debate really. Only on Landyzone would someone compare an Impreza with a Freelander...

What is the Freelander actually for ?.

We know that the Defender is a short legged, off road supremo workhorse, the Discovery is a good off roading road goer and the Rangerover is just like the Disco but with some walnut !.

My old mans 3 door TD4 doesnt really seem at home on the farm. It wears anti roll bar links really quickly, smokes the clutch when towing hasnt got grata ground clearance and the exhaust hangs too low at the back. ( does do 35 mpg though ).
