, many thks and dare i say it, doesn’t look too bad of a job, 3 x bolts at the top, 1 x at the bottom, lower strut , disconnect air pipe and they come out

ordered new bolts in case the old bolt needs cutting off,

well in theory , lol

noticed this on line ref the front struts

plus just out of interest and if you’ve never seen it, here’s a pic of the D3 with the body off

I know what you mean about theory, lost count of the jobs I've planned and prep'd for that should have taken 20 minutes but I've still been working on 4 hours later.

I noticed a useful tip on the video you linked too. When I was refitting my compressor I couldn't use a flexible coupling to refit the top mounting bolt as the end would drop before it got to the bolt head. In the video he wraps a bit of masking tape around the flexible coupling to stiffen it. Be useful if I have to take the compressor out again

hi , yes that’s the one, if u call them and tell them it’s for the D3

the d3 and sport have the same running gear and engine, just the bodies that are different

as that’s the bluetooth version u can use ur iphone or ipad

Hi gstuart,
The Gap iid tool arrived today. There were loads of suspension faults, I presume these had accumulated over the years so I cleared them and scanned again. The error I'm getting now is C1A20-64(AF) Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir. Algorithm based failure -signal plausibility failure.
I've checked and can't find any so I'm wondering if my overhaul and seal replacement of the compressor was unsuccessful.
Be grateful for any ideas

hi, great you’ve now got it , is surprising what fault codes mount up

after you’ve cleared them is this the only code that’s come back

check to see what the compressors pressure is please

here’s a chart so u can check that’s it in the same ball park

does sound like the compressor is stuffed but with the iid u can at least 100% prove that’s at fault

I couldn't find a compressor pressure but found a gallery pressure. Is this the same? It's giving a reading of only 626 KPA compared to the recommended 1780 in your chart. I've also had more error codes crop up. I've attached a screenshot. Thanks

Looks like compressor and height sensor are my next step then. Thanks johnlad and lynall

totally agree with that sort of pressure , of lack of it, lol

at least having that iid it’s not the case of guessing

the iid will also be able to redo all the calibration when u fit a new height sensor, have a look at it first in case the wires are bad, if they are u can buy a repair loom for height sensors

but indeed compressor first , plse let us know how u get on

Thanks again gstuart

I fitted the compressor yesterday and a new height sensor the day before. So far all good. The car passed it's test today.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and a special thanks to gstuart who's advice has been invaluable.

i’m still messing around with my front struts , posted a thread up if u need a good laugh, lol

great news indeed and don’t forget , for some light reading print out the iid users manual, it’s only around 180 x pages , lol,

is good u can even see what the live data readings are for ur injectors etc

any fault codes by the way , plus don’t forget u can update the firmware to have a clock on the instrument panel

PS , if u need the link for the manual , plse give me a shout and can find it for u
