** Date and Time Plus Entry Table **
Date will be Saturday, 24th May. Probably starting lunchtime-ish so folks can have picnics/pie and chips before setting off. Finish would be from around 6-ish at a pub. Please indicate if you will want to eat at pub, I'll let the Landlord know numbers the day before.

Mandatory T&Cs :rulez::
* The hunt will require travelling (on foot, bike or vehicle) some byways
* Entrants must take responsibility to decide their means of travel to ensure the safety of themselves, their passengers and anything else (goldfish, kids etc.).
* If you break something, don't blame me.
* There will be at least one "on foot" treasure item requiring people to get out and get (a little) exercise. This bit of the hunt may be cold, wet, muddy so please dress appropriately. Bikinis or other skimpy clothing will attract bonus marks at the Marshal's discretion.
* This hunt is not against the clock, and does not require the following of a set route.

You will need the maps in order to answer some of the questions, I'm not providing them, and if you don't have them you will still be able to participate, but it is unlikely you'll get top marks.

Will include visits to areas covered by OS Explorer maps 144 and 145

Just gauging interest at the moment. Many years ago I used to organise a scatter treasure hunt for work - not a race or time trial, but each competitor has to decipher puzzles to locate "clues" that are distributed around an area. No set route overall, although there may be particular roads that have to be driven in order to collect further clues - a road book would tell you these.

My plan is that there would be at least one "get out of the car" section to look for a clue in a wood or summat.

I'd look to plant some clues down byways, but this would not be a formal circuit of byways as such. Points awarded for clues depending on the difficulty etc. There would not be "hard core" laning - aiming this to be a family event.

Finish at a pub, no prizes other than kudos and the appreciation of the other hunters. You'd need to crack the clues to find the pub (or open a panic envelope thus losing all of your marks  )

Thinking of a Saturday or Sunday in May when the lanes should be dried out a bit and the evenings are lighter...

Numbers would be limited as although a scatter, logistics would mean no more than 10 vehicles.

Any interest - a offer to help organise/recce would be useful... :)

1973 series 3 diesel - I get alot of grey/white smoke from the exhaust, everything is fixable though so there's a good chance I'll get to the bottom of it!

Thanks for the interest and offers for help. I'll look at dates (need to avoid the LZ 10th!) and then get in touch by PM. Hopefully your landy isn't too sick!

I'll post more details here.

Hi looks like this is on my doorstep so to speak. Would be happy to help out in any way, currently work in NE Hants and live over the border..
If help not needed would enjoy coming along for the day.

Disclaimer - If any participant drives past my front door I will be impressed, not so sure the neighbours would be

OK folks - Bank Holiday weekend 24/25 May looks best for me at the moment. Not settled on the day of the weekend yet, depends what SWMBO has planned :) My preference would be for the Sunday, but I'll confirm by updating the OP here.

I'm aiming to base the treasure hunt around the areas covered by 1:25000 Explorer Maps 145 and 146. It won't be completely on byways, but definitely will have some treasure hidden down accessible and legally driveable byways. Also looking for at ideas for nature reserves or other areas where there would be parking, but also the opportunity to get out and hunt for treasure on the ground (and maybe stop for a picnic) - please PM me any ideas.

Finally, if this weekend looks like it would work for you and you're still happy to help recce or marshall on the day, please PM me.

Nipping out for a short recce tomorrow morning - anyone know how the roads/lanes around Frensham/Tilford are flooding wise? Don't want to get find meself sunk .

More exploration on foot probably (other than Frensham which are hopefully OK) than driving the lanes...

I'm game! Got the landy running nicely again now so just need to find time to weld and MOT so out the game for recce's for a short while. I'll dig through my maps and see what I have in that area too!

Scooted around Frensham and Hindhead way so will take a look near my "home patch" next.

Date will be Saturday, 24th May. Probably starting lunchtime-ish so folks can have picnics/pie and chips before setting off. Finish would be from around 6-ish. I'll update the OP so people can always find this stuff! LINK TO OP
