Hi guys...

Heres a good one, my V8 decided to boil and die on my way home last weekend so i have sourced a new one but its the earlier A suffix block... and my current engine is a B suffix so the timing cover, water pump etc is different!...

So can i take my front of the engine and put it on the earlier block? or in the words of johnny cash - would all the holes be gone?

thanks for your help guys!

Cannot give you a firm answer without more information, but I do know that the 3.9 Gems block has a different pickup position for the flywheel sensor than the Thor block. Most everything else changed over with no problem.

The difference is in the radial position of the sensor, there is a 3" or so machined hole on the opposite side to the starter, into which is welded an adapter plate with the pickup mounting.

The hole is in a different position, and as it's welded in place, a bit difficult to modify.

if it is a 3.9 disco1? then yes the block is ok swap all the parts over no problems use you heads as they are 28cc heads and better if you are keeping the older heads remove the third row of head bolts not needed
