i got a similar noise when i accelerate over 2500 rpm. also done water pump n belt, thought it was pump bearings before changing it! but when the belt was off examined the guide wheels and the bearings in one of them feel a little gritty so i am presuming thats whats causing it, it stops for a while if i squirt wd40 into the bearings on the guide wheels.

hmmmm interesting, and what might one do to get rid of that sound permanently?

sounds like you getting all excited.

does sound like tensioner bearings or along that line. nice driveway by the way

and for me to do that does that mean me stripping out the whole cooling system again? FFS i better not have to....! lol and new bearing will set me back how much? i could prob do it with my eyes closed at this stage! lol

thanks for liking my driveway! im sure if my driveway knew you it would also like you too! lol

ok so strange thing is a few weeks on after an oil change and sticking 2.5L of ATF in the gearbox it seems that the sqeek has gone...... not sure how or why but thought it might be worth updating

Sounded like the transmission bands in the gearbox were not quite getting enough good fluid pressure to grip the drum properly and slipping. The new ATF would have helped. Was the old stuff brown when it came out rather than the clean red colour? If so it's had a bit too much heat over the years. Interestingly your fuel consumption should be better now too.
