for the sake of a £2 battery.

Went shopping, got back to motor, pressed key fob and nothing. Could not turn alarm or immobiliser off.:mad:

None of the local shops had a spare batt so one phone call to the missus and 30 minutes later she turns up with the spare fob. Lots of **** taking etc.

Sometimes I wish I had a simple Landy.

Motto of the story is keep a spare battery for the key fob somewhere in the motor.

You'll need to add £2 to that to cover the fob battery :D

There's nowt wrong with the motor - just the poxy fob that gives no warning when its about to give up the ghost. New battery and sorted.

Sometimes simple is best.

Am sure I could scrape together 2 quid out me penny jar.

Will yer fill it up with fuel for me too?

Something that sometimes works is to remove battery and hold it in your armpit to warm up for a minute, I've done it once to get going.

I tried that but it was as dead as a dodo. Local shops had every other type of button battery but the one I needed. I even tried putting a slimmer one in with a bit of foil to pad it out but nada.

I've changed all the batts in me and the Doris' key fobs now and got a spare batt in each car just in case. They've got expiry dates of 2020 so they should be good for a few years.

It's a really common problem for us when doing breakdowns. I usually carry spare batties on my truck but if I do happen to run out I just put the fob on my heater vent for 5 mins. That will give enough power to disarm the alarm and get a vehicle going.

I wonder if warming the battery with a match would have worked :eek:;)
The really annoying thing is that you get no warning.
Also on the TD5 the fob has to be within a short distance of the steering lock and I wonder if it needs power for the sensor to work?
Any ideas ?

The immobiliser is turned off for 30 seconds when you blip your landy to dissarm it.

When using my landy for breakdowns I use a spare key and dummy fob in the ignition and keep the full set of keys and real fob in my pocket. That way if it gets nicked, it won't restart after it's been turned off. I simply blip it with the real fob and then start it straight up with the spare key and dummy fob.;)
