My Pride and joy Land Rover was stolen from outside my house Yesterday morning In Park Road, Sittingbourne opposite the Gore Court Arms Pub.
I`ve spent the best part of 2 years upgrading it and adding bits too it.
number plate is above (JMJ 653G) although thats a series mine is heavily modified,

defender front end, TD5 engine and running gear, really the only original parts are the series doors.

It has a mantec snorkel: http://www.mantec.co.uk/productdetail.c ... F1E47E4E03

Shadow winch bumper: http://www.firstfour.co.uk/defender/def ... 387278.php

Superwinch epi 9.5: http://www.terrafirma4x4.com/products_p ... 23&grp=151

Also black chequer plating on the wings and bonnet.

It was painted in Green (with a roller) and has some red and even a bit of purple coming through in some places.

The spare wheel is on the back door and has a black cover. and Defender BOOST alloy wheels with general grabber tyres.

At the time it was stolen it had a spare engine and gearbox for my 205 GTI in the back.

Its a very distinctive looking Land Rover so hopefully if its not already in bits someone will see it.

James

was it stolen before or after :screaming_bug_eye_f maybe the real owner took it back

I've owned it 2 years, and have done most of the mods to it myself so I don't really appreciate the comments suggesting i'm a thief or complicit in dealing in stolen goods. Yes it's tip toeing on the edge of tax exempt status but that's no reason to lible me.
I just want my truck back and your up your own arse comments aren't helpfull.

Tip toeing!! You wrote yourself that the only tax-free bits left are the doors!!!

Anyway...sorry to hear it got stolen...maybe, for your own peace of mind...and to get your insurance LEGAL...you need to re-reg it when you get it back....good luck! Cos if it doesn't turn up...you may be in a world of **** with the insurance co!!

you forgot the tax exempt roof as well lol :D

Yes I did after I rolled it, that's when I had the leaf springs swapped out and the axles swapped. I had it checked when I first MOTd it and was told it was fine. Also all the mods were declaired to the insurance company and confirmed with the valuataion so I don't see a problem from that perspective. Tho I'd rather have my truck back than insurance money it was like a member of the family.

The MOT tester or insurance company, cannot decide whether a vehicle is legally registered or not. they can only go on the info in the log book. Just because they have passed it for mot and you have declared the mods, it does not mean it is legally registered. If a VOSA inspector pulled the vehicle over, you would have a very hard time explaining why you are claiming tax exemption, and an even harder time explaining why you shouldn't have to pay all the back dated road tax they will ask for.

Well if I'm lucky enough to get it back I'll have it inspected and re-registered if needed. It would be a small price to pay to get him back.
But back to topic can we keep to if it's been seen etc all this side tracking is kind of detracting from the original point of the thread.

To be honest mate the side tracking has done ya a favour and kept the thread alive

Frankly with the state of the roads near me and way we get ripped off on fuel prices and taxed on tax all the fecking time I applaud anyone who saves themself a few quid by working the system.

Hope you get it back anyway...looks like a nice one.

I hope you get it back mate, whatever the tax status it's your motor and you have obviously spent a lot of time and money getting it the way you want it. I am in Kent and I will be keeping and eye out for you mate. Good luck fella, keep yer chin up.
