Ok folks, got the big blue beast back from our local specialists, all MOT'd up and raring to go but they have pointed out that the shifter is stiffer than it should be (which we suspected, it moves but requires a bit of effort).

They took the cable off and it moved fine, checked it etc and are saying it's either the selector cable or selector lever.

Are these easy to "diy" ? If they are then I will gladly have a bash myself as we have a driveway, decent jack and axle stands and so on.

you need to undo nut on box shaft and clamp securing cable to mount then remove lever assembly from tunnel ,lever needs over prising off and c clip removing to allow button mech to come apart and to get at 19mm nut ,when refitting ensure cable is fully located in clamp on mount and adjust cable at box till lever operation in cab matches box operation box has positive detents so isnt difficult to know what position its in,p is with box lever fully forward and cable at furthest extent
