Experienced bods on here will have seen a lot of threads about quality problems with Britpart parts - while some are good, others are dire. What tends to happen is, a newbie buys Britpart, gets a dud, and swears off Britpart forever (and posts about it here).

I thought a positive thread would be better. At least people could look up on here whether a part they need is any good, rather than losing the blue box lottery and ranting about it. If I were at Britpart I would much prefer this.

Here goes:
Brake discs, hoses, pads, shoes
Air, pollen, crank breather and oil filters
 
Stop ditching people when they have had a bad part from britpart as I did this week I will also say it was not my first bad britpart experience I have had a few but not again .if the part is bad and does not work properly why would I want to praise it and by copying the Landrover part number they are I am sure they are deceiving people

I reckon your idea for a sticky is a good one, and I agree that some br*tpart stuff is OK. I'm not sure I would include their filters in that though :eek:

Perhaps you could add a poll to the thread, as I am not convinced you'll get meaningful results without same :(:confused:
 
I’ve been using the filters for a good few years now - they seem OK, other than fuel filters.

I thought of a poll, but it might be a bit narrow. There are lots of BP bits out there, hundreds, and this thread is an attempt to sort the wheat from the chaff by praising the wheat rather than ranting about the chaff.
 
Fitted a Britpart clutch kit to my 300 Tdi Disco last year that I had bought in 2011 for my last Disco but never fitted. Had to throw out release bearing as it was not centred (i.e. bearing face was not in the middle of the hole for the input shaft). Bought a brand new one - also Britpart - exactly the same. I get that they are very affordable and hence quality will not be as good as LR original but it should still be "acceptable". Anyway, back to the OP:

Good parts:
Filters, friction parts (clutch, brake)
Suspension (springs, dampers, bushes)

Not acceptable in my limited experience:
Bearings (incl release for clutch)
Propshaft doughnuts

wouldn’t touch britpart with a barge poll , unfortunately been let down too many times

had to order some new bolts the other day for my struts , alas britpart turned up even though i had ordered genuine ones

useless and had to send them back , nuts wouldn’t go any further onto the thread

Genuine parts or straight to main bearing dealer for others.
Buy once,fit the best, less hassle in the long run.
don't trust all what's in blue bags ;)
 
I fitted Britpart wishbone bushes to the mother in law's V6. They fitted just fine, but time will tell how long they last. I used genuine bushes for my TD4, but she didn't want to stretch to genuine or OE, so Britpart it was.
 
I've used Bp discs without an issue. They lasted 2 sets of pads and didn't cause any vibration while braking.
Rear shoes have been good so far too.

I've not tried Britpart, so can't comment on their quality one way or another, but I think the best approach seems to be to identify the OEM for the part you're looking for, and then internet search for that specific bit... I am very happy with the Delphi parts sourced for my Freelander.

True - although the comments really re-affirm the OP's point that many have bought off Britpart once and then never returned... Still, they still exist as a trading entity, so surely it can't be all bad???
 
ok i will say the problem these days for me personally is i want to buy other better made quality parts but am finding it hard as you have to do your homework otherwise a company even craddock will send you a britpart item , im sorry britpart are **** end of sportsi nearly bumped a 90 quite a few years back due to britpart brake calipers , i value my life and will not cut corners , just like the treaded bolts bought a new britpart servo by the time i done up the two bolts holding the master cylinder on the thread had stripped . sorry to put a dampner , even britpart mud flaps ,no im not advertising that my landy has ****part .......

I have never really thought about it before but I recently put an order through for quite a few bits. Basically I always try and buy OEM (sorry OP!) but for a couple of the parts I wasn't even prepared to pay their prices and wanted a specific make that had been recommended (eg All Makes brake drum). It was at this point that I realised you really do not know what you are getting where suppliers (in the case I was looking at Rimmers) just say "aftermarket". Therefore I went with the supplier (in my case LRDirect) that actually listed which aftermarket supplier they were using, or choice of suppliers.

As I happens for 1 part, an intercooler hose, there was not much choice - so I bought a Britpart one (my first ever Britpart purchase). I can happily report that it fitted well and it has been working to spec (I believe) for a whole week.
