Ok... being as I usually ask dim questions on here I see no reason to stop.

Where can I find the stepper motor

How do I know whether it is working properly

Are their maintenance checks or cleaning procedures that I should acrry out?

I ask because I have a V8 that cuts out while descelerating at normal temperature. I have seen references to the stepper motor but don't know anything about it.

Cheers one and all!!

Doesn't sound like stepper to me mate. Check all your vac lines and plenum for leaks.

BTW stepper is located on the back left corner of the plenum (when facing engine). Testing and cleaning it is easy enough but can't say the symptoms you describe are typical for a duff stepper, normally you would have fluctuating revs or an idle speed that was too high.

I agree with that but it would not be bad thing to clean it if it has never been done though.

Unplug the multiplug on it then unscrew it, spray it with carb cleaner but be carefull not to twist the plunger as they can break easily.

Spray some carb cleaner into the hole too and refit with a thin smear of copper grease on the thread.

base idle lost, afm fault throttle position sensor, get the ecu fault read before guesing

It's time wasting to see a post has be added and then to open the thread expecting to see a snippet of wisdom or comment relating to the thread only to find "PM sent" it's a waste of time for the poster and the viewer of the thread. :p

Annoyed Pete :behindsofa:
