Steering wheel controls for D2a HSE

I have a 2003 Land Rover Discovery HSE TD5. It came fitted with an InCarTec 29-620-C connected to a Kenwood headunit by the appropriate lead. However, the steering wheel controls did not work.

I removed the Kenwood headunit and replaced it with an Alpine unit (to add bluetooth and iPod control) and the InCarTec 29-001 Alpine Adapter lead to suit. The Alpine headunit is definately steering wheel control compatible, yet once again it does not work.

Any ideas? Anyone else had issues getting the InCarTec adapter to work?
