Driving on the M4 last night the RR was pulling all over the place.
Had to fight with the steering to keep her in the lane i was in.
As though a severe GUST of wind was trying to blow the RR off the road.
From Left to Right almost the whole journey.
WTF is going on there??

Could'nt of been the drunk...I only had 12 pints befort i left!!!:D

All tyres are fine, all presure in tyres are fine...

Only just got the RR, nothing but greif with it so far...I personally havent had it off road, it just sways about from left to right as you driving along.
It has 20" low profiles wheels and tyres, maybe that has something to do with it.....just off to garage to check all pressure on tyres again.

You'll definitely have to crawl underneath and have a good look around. Give all the steering joints a good pull around, jack up each wheel and see if you've got any play. Get someone to steer from side to side while you lie underneath, see if you can see anything.

Your not going to like me for this, but I'd look at all the suspension bushes, steering ball joints and shock absorbers.

Fairly cheap to replace if you "diy", the only fly in the ointment is if the steering box is worn.

Were you driving in the inside lane on the motorway?

If so you may have also been, being thrown around by tram lines in the road surface.

I was in the slow lane at a steady 60 mph....was fighting with the steering all the way.
It felt like an invisible hand was trying to yank the wheel out of my hands..

Again i will take a good look over the weekend.
Thanks for the advise.

hmmm, I would second the tram line theory, it may not be the answer to all your problems but certainly on some motorways where there are tram lines in the slow lane you can get pulled around all over the place, I had never experienced something like that until I owned my P38.

Maybe she was trying to throw the 20" wheels off?? :D

-Wills :)

I also have a p38 with 20" wheels. I have experienced a simular problem and think its just the wheel size. After a few weeks of driving it I got used to when it is going to pull / bounce around and now dont even notice it at all. I have just had all my ball joints and track rod ends replaced as there was a bit of play in the steering but it still seems to pull.

I had an Escort a few years ago that the previous owner had fitted big alloys on & then the tracking was very badly set up, it felt as if someone else was steering against you, really dangerous, but was sorted out with a tracking set up. The steering wheel was nearly a quarter of a turn out when it was corrected.

Would consider this if I were you

Steve;)

I will def get the Tracking done too see if it makes a difference,
I dont think i could get used to driving her like this as it is a fight to contol.
Will stay out the slow lane on my next motorway journey.

SO MANY THINGS IT COULD BE !!! Will keep you posted once i have sussed it out....first place to look is underneath her today.

Thanks again for all your advise Fella's.
