hi guys, went around a couple of corners and heard an odd noise, stopped at the side of the road and turned the steering wheel both ways and there was a loud whirring noise...any ideas what this would be?

i have already checked the fluid level, it was a bit low, topped it up noise was still there.
would driving it like this damage it further or is the pump is probably bolloxt already? cheers for replies

Defo pump. Buy one yourself then get a price from a local garge to give you price. £90 tops i recon. Smaller garage will have it sorted in less than an hour. I did mine took me an hour. But with all the gear easy less. Or have a go yourself. Good luck

looking at island 4x4 £120 or there abouts, is there anything else i will need. think i will have a crack at it myself, already have a new auxilary drive belt to sling on.

hi guys, new pump arriving tomorrow, the noise has got worse( sounds like a cordless drill when turning). also when turning the wheel it intermitently gets harder then eases off again on the same turn. losing fluid aswell now.
i am hoping this still sounds like the pump to you guys

I have changed the pump and there was signs of a bit of a leakbetween the two sections of the pump.
In the haynes book there is talk of a bleeding screw on the steering box, where do I reach this from?
Its got dark now so bad light stopped play.
I have given the wheel a little wiggle, dont want to move too far from the instructions, so didnt go potty, seems to work but will wait till i have bled it

The bleed screw is on top of the steering box, so approach from above.
