steering damper or not?????????

right ive not long had my disco and i bought it standard, and after doing a lot to it ive now planned to fit an uprated steering damper, so got on to paddocks to order and with me not knowing a lot about disco, i was told the uprated damper just fits in place of my original one, now my only problem is, i dont think it has a damper????
i have included pics so you can see.
problem one is if it has a damper where is it?
problem two if the is no damper how can i fit my new oneas the bars have no brackets on?
and if i need a kit for it to fit where do i get it from?
(ignore oil all over, did oil change yesterday and it went everywhere lol)

no their is no steering damper fitted on that

is it on the bak bar?

The steering damper is normally on the trackrod behind the front axle.
The one below the backend of the oil sump.

It's got the wrong end on the steering arm.
Must drive like ****!
Looks like someone's fitted a home made steering guard, which doesn't leave room for one!!!

Highly dangerous - I wouldn't drive it.

its not a home made gaurd, its a D44 one from devon 4x4,
the thing drove really mint when i got it, i put all the bumpers lift kit and gaurds on it,
it now is a bit wondery with the insa turbos on.
if it does not have one what do i do to make it have one?

There isn't a steering damper on it. It would be pretty easy to fit one though. You would need a new drop arm with ball joint instead of a ring. Fit the defender drop arm ball joint to front track rod end connector. This has the lower steering damper bracket on it. You may have the upper mount already fitted to your chassis. You made need to weld one on. I rekon it should cost around £50 for the parts plus the cost of the damper.

it's not the wandering I'd be worried about. it's what happens when you hit a rock or sommat at speed and the steering wheel gets ripped out of your hand.

They are usually just a straight bar with a trackrod end on each end of it. I spose it is possible to use fit a mount to the rear instead of the front though.

I guess it's possible - never seen one like that, but I aint got a Disco.

right i dont know what bar is what as in trackrod and steering bar and all the rest so if some one could tell me what to do in non mechanical language that will hell me lol

My 300 has the damper on the back bar and I know for a fact it's original.

Guess he'd better get back underneath and have another look then!

well at least i think this is it, so fuss over, i can just buy the uprated one now,
