Alright Folks

Finally managed to get my disco back together and got her running after replacing head gasket. Since i've done it she's been a bitch to start in the mornings or when the engine has been sat. I replaced the Glow plugs with the over hall. I also lapped in the valves and replaced the Injector seals. WTF is going on???

I saw several cases when after the replacement of the injector seals there was some trouble.......it's very important to do an EXTREMLY clean job there.

I was a clean job but i recon that there is something funny going on with the injectors too. I decide to get it done at the local garage so i can take it back if its still the same.

what engine is it?

200 tdi? 300 tdi ? TD5 ?

If it's a TD5 you had better be thinking about doing the injector copper washers properly, and hoping the flat seats in the head haven't been scratched, scored or dented.

TD5 engines are VERY sensitive to the smallest leak of cylinder gas past the bottom copper washer.

Same problem here...

My dad rebuilt the engine and all back together now but it just refuses to start even with a pull.
Diesel getting to the engine as its coming out the pipe along the side of the pipe if disconnected but there's no white smoke when turning the engine over so it seems as if the injectors aren't firing.

Was wondering if it could be the crank sensor but I can't seem to find it on the gearbox now that the engine is back in

Bloody annoying now as my dad is going to be taking my E30 Touring too much for my liking while the Disco is off the road

You guys MUST say what ENGINES are involved!

No-one can advise unless that is known.

TD5 injection systen is completely different from all other Landy diesels.

200 tdi is easy, but there are two kinds of 300 tdi.

We need to know, WHICH ENGINE IS IT?

It is in td5 section-may that be the clue?

What does that mean please? Where is fuel coming out?

Do you know how to
(a) prime the fuel system and
(b) purge the injectors?

Sorry, meant to say if I diconnected the pipe that runs along the side of the head the fuel would come out so at least the pump was giving fuel to the head at least anyway.

by priming and purging the system, I presume you mean by turning on the ignition 4 or 5 times prior to starting to run the fuel pump until its primed.

Been really busy all week with college and didn't have much time to do anything this weekend but I'm thinking the CPS could have been damaged when the engine was going back in.

OK ....

That's HALF of the story.
Do that first, then turn the key OFF.
Press the throttle pedal to the floor and hold it down.
Keep the pedal hard down and turn the key to run the starter.
KEEP IT TURNING at least 20 - 25 seconds, or till it starts if sooner.
The pedal must me pressed to the floor throughout this process, which is designed to get the INJECTORS primed with fuel so they work.

If there is ANY gas or air in an injector, it won't operate.

If it doesn't start after trying this there's a bigger problem stopping the injectors from working

Ah I see!

Cheers for that, will try that tomorrow as sounds like it could be the problem as I was first thinking the injectors could be air-locked but thought I had them primed as much as possible.

Better get a few spare batterys charged now though :D
