starter motor problems

I have a disco 1 300tdi manual.

Where is the starter notor and how hard is it to remove?
Done some off roading today and now will only start by bump starting it. opened.bonnet and its caked in mud so before i get proper mudded up can anyone twll.me where it is ans what tools ill need would be a bonus

Clean the mud off and then have a look for it

r/h side of engine behind the turbo area

remove air filter to engine rubber hose and the elbow from the intercooler pipe below that, all jubilees so easy enough, then its 2 x 13mm bolts and a 15mm nut holding it on, but remember to remove battery leads first from battery then from back of starter along with the little exciter cable, all in took me about an hour to take mine off and clean it up with a wire brush and some wd40 and about 20 mins fecking about to get the bastarding thing back on.

Honestly more time spent getting access than taking it off.
