Hi guys. Went out fora drive today and it feels like she is missing I am thinking plugs a leads as a start point anything else I should look for?

It's a 2001 4.6.

Thanks.

Yes it misses at idle. Diags says cyl 6 is miss firing so I'll check that out first. Looking from the front where is 6?

Download a copy of Rave - its invaluable.
Cylinders:
Left bank 1-3-5-7
Right bank 2-4-6-8
No1 cylinder location = pulley end of left bank

Thanks. Yes I have race at home but am away only have my phone - and of course my nanocom! Thanks for the info.

One of these days I'm gonna print off a copy to keep in the motor - or maybe get an old lap top (for the eas as well).
Good luck with it - hopefully only a plug or lead.

OK, Plugs changed but still the same issue, I guess leads then coil pack? The coil pack looks a bit of a PITA to get to!

On the gems engine its easier to take the plenum chamber off to get to the straight coils - though not so sure about the thor engine which you have. Can you see the condition of the coils by unplugging the leads from there - i.e. any corrosion??

Can't really see them so plenum chamber will come off! I wanted to do the rocker cover gaskets anyway so can do all at once!

Careful when you remove/replace the rubber rocker cover gaskets. They have small brass rings/spacers at the bolt holes, that drop out easily. I nearly managed to drop mine into the engine when replacing the valley gasket:eek:

No idea to be honest hence changing the components I know are involved! Nanocom only says cyl 6 is missing. It's doing it all the time.

OK some good news! It looks like the lead to cylinder 6 is knackered! I went to connect it to the spare plug to look for spark and the internals of the cap stayed on the plug in the engine!. I managed to get the lead back together temporary and the missfire has gone.

New leads on order anyway so looks like that will sort it.

Thanks.
