Squeezing something bigger under the bonnet?

Ok, silly question time.

Ive been looking for some used parts for potentially replacing some bits I think are going to need replacing either now or in the near future. Ie; fuel pump and compressor for my TD5 disco.

Now, I came across some engines like 4.4 V8s from RR Sports and 2.7 TDV6s from D3s etc for 'average' money, lets say. Would it be a ridiculous modification to try and fit one into a D2? I cant imagine it would be easy, but is it totally impossible?

Or should I just carry on saving my pennies and get a D3 when the missus lets me?

Now that would be a decent mod

It did 140mph and hit 60 in bout 6secs which is on par with my 2.8 audi quattro

got a 2.2 5pot 20valve s6 aswell.....thats quicker and sounds amazing at 7300rpm

290ish bhp and 320lb/ft with re-map and a 3inch cat-back no boxes.

getting de catted soon.

my aim is 700bhp plus which if anyone knows the 5pot is do-able
