Me brakes squeal after off roading.I can only use jet washes at tecos etc which dont seem to have the power to wash em proper. Any ideas how to stop it?

could be any one of a number of things doin it, are the caliper pistons and seals in good nick? if not they could be sticking just a bit. sometimes a certain type of brake pad will squeal no matter what. do they squeal after off roading or after jet washing? you might find you're accidentally washing more crud over the brakes than getting it off?

first happened after going to bures-lots of sand and gravel, so when it stopped thought it had gone.But no.

chamfer the leading and trailing edges on the pads. It cured mine and they were really bad.

mine do it but only in bad rain. . . so please tell me its the wet n not sumink else wrong with the feckin freebie!

on the p38 one of the sliders on the bracket seize and dont let the brakes balance properly, this leads to a LOT of squeaks and grinding noises.
i refurbished mine, all 4 of em, broke one of the sliders and had to drill it out.
the rover 75 are the same and are a good replacement slider, they also suffer from the seizure. plenty of copper grease and regular checks on em!!
dunno if its true of any other landys but i suspect it will be as they are in rovers and the rear of some mg's, poor manufacture basically!

Double sided foam number plate tape on the back of the pads also helps eliminate any squealing.

ickle stone maybe cought on pads
copper grease for some stupid reason on back plates of pad stops squeal but depends what squeal you get. If its a squeal like a boiled egg shoved up a pigs arse then thats bad. If not then power washing discs will not help. You need to get down with the gritty

I get squeal from mine sometimes after off roading, normally when I'm trying to drop out of warp drive. I guess the brakes just don't like getting really hot.
One other thought, have you checked the discs for run out? They might sing a bit if there're getting thin.

Not thin the rears have less than 3 k on em n the fronts less than 1k. They dont like getting hot, thats when i get it most.

Try being lighter on the pedal, mine only squeal when I'm hard on the brakes. I suppose the thing is if you can live with it leave it, as long as you can stop, that is the main thing......mostly.

did you take the time to bed em in proper? it might be worth poppin pads out and releive the edges as previously mentioned and re-flaten the friction surface, (a sheet of 40 ish grit paper and a dead flat surface will do) then pop em back in and avoid emergency type stoppin for 100 miles or so to give em a good chance to bed in without glazing up

Take em all apart clean em copper ese the backs of the pads . Cured my brake squeal
