Evening all,
Could do with a really quick response on this one if any one can help?
Right ive already done a search and not found the answer that i need and this is where your knowledge comes in! My pals got a 1994 200TDI Disco1 and the alarm has caused the disco to become dead as in wont start and alarm sounding each time the key is in the ignition.Upto now its been running well when it decided to deadlock and then wont start unless the starter wires are crossed or bump started so we think the spider is goosed? problem is Haynes manual is ****e and instructions are for a 300tdi and not a 200 so we dont know where the little bas***d is hiding. All i need is someone to tell me where the little ****e is hiding so i can either repair it or bypass it.
by the way the single button remote wont do anything, the alarm does not respond in any way to either the remote or key.

thanks in advance

Have you tried using the key to lock/unlock ?
Sometimes helped on my old one when it was temperamental :)

Tried all that coz mines the same but still no joy! I know people say it shouldnt have a spider but what is making me unsure is that it is the very last 200 and is on the changeover because its even got anti roll bar on the back and has also got 24 spline half shafts whereas the 200 are usually 10 spline and no anti roll bar.

Dunno what the spider thing is, but my 200 has an alarm and if it goes wrong I have one of them round key things to push into a box under the footwell.

Early 300s dont have it either if I remember correctly.

None of the 200's had smart spider immobilisation, all it will have is the alarm/cl ecu - Z163 in the proper wiring diagram. If the alarm is locked down and the fobs wont work then you need to either rewire it without the alarm or send the ecu to remote key.uk for them to unlock it and supply 2 new fobs.
The smart spider came along with the 1996my cars which had the two button fobs.

I think the rewire option is going to be taken as the disco is only used for offroad so not worth having it unlocked but at least now i know where we are at with it.

thanks for all the help guys!

Have you checked the switch on the back of the drivers door lock?

You can buy a small plug or wire it yourself that plugs in under the steering wheel in the footwell I think takes seconds , there is a little white plug similar to the spider bypass for a 300 that you can buy for a 200 tdi disco . cost about £3 I think if memory serves it plugs into the alarm reciever .... try paddocks or J craddocks

I am sure it plugs in here and connects 4 or 2 points

I got one from a spares place or alarm specialist a few years ago
