Right I just got half way through changing me rear brake discs when I realised I'd need a bloody huge great hub socket. It never mentioned it in the Haynes manual, so I never gave it a thought.

So now I know I'll need one to get the job done I was wondering if theres any other special tools specific to Landrovers that an enthusiastic Owner might need. I'm not talkin pooters that you plug in to read codes more like sockets, cam tools etc.:scratching_chin:

what motor?

Mines a '94 200 TDi Discovery I was thinking for tools to cover all landies though. Must be a quite few I'd guess, after playing with mine since dinner time one thing I know for sure is I'm gonna need a bigger/ Better quality tool kit my 3/8 halfords ratchet sets not gonna last long against a Landie.....

Just get a compressor and a windy gun then you should have most of what you need. You'll be wanting some big sockets though, would suggest 24,27,30,32mm sockets.

Inch and a quarter combination spanner (viscous fan nut) and 35mm socket for the drop arm nut. 1/4" drive socket set is pretty handy too. Stilsons are a useful fall back together with the ubiquitous Mole Grips. Just make sure you got plenty hammers and WD40 - you'll be fine.

Another example the calliper bolts were a 13mm splined head not a regular hex head luckily I had a 13mm 12-point ring spanner that fitted, but a reglar socket wouldn't touch it.

yer, you need a bi-hex socket for that.

just build it as you go. when you have a job on, ask around to see what you need. or you will end up spending a fortune on bits in 1 go.

I already have a hub nut spaner .. but the tool I most think works well is the Difflock Propshaft nut socket .

BIG hammer and lots of wd, then come back with heat, then lots of swearing, then it finally moves

Well I know stilsens dont work, not on the rear of a Disco anyways. So I'll be needing 2 new hub nuts and a new hub spanner.....
