Hi Chaps,

Newbie here. Help!

I need to get some tools:-

I need to get the rear calipers off the hub on my 97 p38a - they are held on with an M12 I believe, with a multi-point head on it.
Q1 of 2: Can anyone tell me exactly what that head is? I need to get a socket to suit. Are there any others like this that I need special tools for?

Annnnndddddd......

Q2 of 2: What size are the 97 brake unions - are they 3/8 UNF x 24 or 10mm metrics?

Again - I need to get some bits & bobs.

Is there a tech data repository somewhere with this kind of info in it?

Thanks in advance.....

12 point 13 mm socket. If they are rusted and loose on the 13 mm try knocking on a 1/2" AF 12 point socket. Make sure socket is on square and use steady pressure. Use good quality sockets not cheap as chips ones or it could end in tears. Brake pipe tube nuts should be 10 x 1 mm threads. 11 mm spanner size.

Thanks,

Agree wholeheartedly - this is why I am so pernickerty about getting the right kit - there is nothing like the right tool etc etc etc. Given their corrosion status, however, the right tool might turn out to be an angle grinder.....

Bolt - Aftermarket at www.rimmerbros.co.uk Cheaper post than Island 4 x 4.

Did mine the other day new calipers and disks. Mine where so rusted on I had to as Wammers said hammer a 1/2 mm socket on to get them off. Upon fitting the new caliper I also fitted new bolts with plenty of copper grease!
