Sparking exhaust!

just drove 7 miles, last 100yrds sparks coming from exhaust, one or two intermitently till reved, then a shower. black smoke when revved hard which clears.

is it a big deal?
kinda thinking its coming from the exhaust box itself, carbon burning up?
BTW its a 2.25 diesel.

Sounds like carbon build up in the head or fanimold, had this on tractor engines and they have been fine.
An occasional rev does them good, but not screwed.

Sounds sweet, patent it, it might be a good idea to get a big holley carb and blow it over and a few hot rod flames down the side.

Id love to see that mod ......... never seen a carb fitted to a deisel before .....

You can't blow over a CAV Pump.

dont think its in the head as i had it off 150 miles ago, cleaned, ground valves, oil seals gasket etc.
