I've just bought my first landy, a Defender 110 2.5Td County, which I'll be exporting to Africa when I move there in a few weeks. As spares are likely to be hard to come by once I arrive, I'd like to ship some bits over beforehand.

What are the most useful spares that you could recommend? So far all I could come up with was:

- Oil & air filters
- brake pads
- glow plugs;

There's bound to be more stuff that needs replacing in the next 3 years, so what else should I add to my shopping list? And where's a reasonable place to buy from?

Cheers

Tint easy to say wot you'll need, it all depends on wots already bin done. Frinstance swivels and seals and CVs, propshafts, UJs, output shaft bearings an seals. Are all stuff that people on here seem to be doing and come up on here regularly, though if they've bin done in the last few years aren't likely to need doing again in the near future.

and eaverything is replaceable just think of tall the landys that are 50 odd years old bet theyve had nearly everything replace at one time or another

Take a bunch of universal joint replacements.

I buy oil, fuel and air filters in bulk for my landy and I am not in Africa so I would get a good load of them, you will probably be changing your fuel and air filters more regularly due to the dust and dirty fuel.

I would take a selection of gaskets and maybe a spare lift pump.

Brake pads.

Credit Card.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll be shopping at the weekend.

Have monkey (me), will need a bigger hammer...

Cheers
