Freelander 2 leaking exhaust fumes

Hi

The Freelander 2 2013 is smelling to exhaust fumes inside most of the time especially when cold starting.
I had it on the lift and everything (ex manifold, egr valve, pipes around) is covered in black exhaust particles but what i noticed the exhaust manifold was covered left to right fully in black goo.

I searched but could not find anything that is common for those cars?

*Could not feel anything blowing air out
* Is it normal the ex manifold is full of black exhaust goo?
* I was thinking if the gasket needs to be replaced to just replace the EGR valve while i would be in there. Any good brands aftermarket?
*Glow plugs any brands to go for? Feels like 2 are out.

Has some 175k miles on it now and besides a turbohose and the door lock that broke nothing major since new besides normal wear and tear.

There's no common area for leakage of exhaust gasses, but the exhaust manifold has been known to crack on occasion. It's best to remove the whole assembly for checking, replacing all the gaskets at the same time. I've also seen broken exhaust studs and missing stud sleeves, which would also create gas leakage. Oil suggests the top cover isn't sealing correctly, so a set seals for top cover would be needed.
I'd not replace the EGR simply because it was off, unless is was giving trouble. Avoid aftermarket anything, and stick with genuine LR boxed parts, or OE parts from premium suppliers.

Fumes. They leave the black stuff on the outside of the manifold and cover.
No oil leaks near that area.

I tought diesel manifolds did not crack often. Studs and sleeves need to take it off to see but it has never been off for sure.
Just annoying it is no visible from where it could leak since everything is covered over time.
There is no oil leaking in that area, just black goo from exhaust gasses.

Just put an order on autodoc for the gaskets i could find on partsouq.
LR025920 should i replace the metal ring on the turbo? Not that cheap.

Out of curiosity if you do city road often how long can you drive before the DPF needs a regeneration?
I am either doing lets say 15days city 13miles a day 60to80min. Either i drive a few 100 miles in 1 day.
If have an idea i could take it 30miles on the highway every X miles.

If the turbo gasket is leaking, it needs replacing. It comes as a kit with the bolts. Cost wise is cost's what it costs. You have to remember it's an almost £40,000 vehicle when new, so has repair costs of a vehicle of that value, even when old.
I've had my exhaust manifold off 3 times, but only replaced the turbo seal once, as they do seal up ok for a second time.
